Oxidation state of FE2O3
Oxygen is -2 therefore there are 3 oxygen s so -2 x 3 = -6. Overall molecule there is no charge so for it to be neutral iron must have an oxidation state of +3 as there are two iron atoms.
You have 3 atoms of Oxygen in the molecule which gives you the total of oxidation states 3 * -2= -6
To balance it off you have two atoms of Fe with oxidation state 3 which gives you 2*3=6
Basically, you don't only look at single atoms but at their multiplies when looking at balancing oxidation states in a molecule.
